Hello Group
I have my control panel set up under Layout Editor, and thanks to the considerable help freely available from this group I have it working mostly to my satisfaction.
I use the Digitrax DCC system, but not exclusively Digitrax products.
However the one item which continues to elude me is the matter of signalling feedback to my panel.
However I know the reason for this, which is that I use the SIGM20? product from Signatrak (previously CML Electronics) which generates (under Digitrax licence) SE (security element) messages to change the signal aspect. However JMRI does not recognise these messages, to the extent that Loconet Monitor carries the notation "usually generated by SIGM20" when one of these unrecognised messages appears.
However I still have a program called Loconet Checker (sadly no longer available) which does recognise the messages and clearly shows the signal aspects changing, albeit only in text form, from red to green and vice versa. (I only use 2 aspect signalling).
Recent messages on this subject seemed to me to imply that the JMRI code could be amended to recongise these messages, so I am wondering if this can be done. I assume that there must be a relationship between Digitrax and JMRI Developers given the extent of the programming available for the likes of the PM42, BDL168 and SE8C. I did approach Digitrax support direct but received a reply along the lines of "we do not support third party software".
I have discussed this issue with the folks from Signatrak at a recent exhibition, but their view is that any approach to Digitrax to interpret these messages needs to come from the JMRI side.
Now I am not sure how this might happen as I don't know the technical relationship between the JMRI developement and Digitrax. I am ready to do what I can to help matters along, unfortunately I know nothing about computer coding. I realise that I am asking someone else, i.e, a developer, to do work of my behalf, but I, and possibly other users of this excellent product, would be extremely grateful. As Loconet Checker can interpret the messages, I assume it is merely a matter of coding.
Is there anything that can be done, or do I just have to accept that I have chosen a product which will never work entirely with JMRI.
Thanks however for an excellent product and the freely given help and support
