Jay,
You don't have the time. I say that because....If you did you would have written it yourself in the first place. Sometimes we do things for a reason (without being fully aware)
Once the bulk of a layout is up and running you transition from Construction to Management. This takes on a new aspect of the hobby.
I would transition to JMRI so you can continue to manage and operate your layout. There is no comparison to the resources that JMRI has. Even to the point of the 24/7 tech support.
There is no reason to reinvent the wheel especially if its free in the first place.? Just because we can do something doesn't mean we need to.?
Example:
Once I got my CNC machine going I knew I could make anything I wanted. A few days into it I broke a piece on the vacuum cleaner. I knew I could make it myself.
I got out the caliper and started putting it into CAD and started planning everything out. Where to get the block of ABS and everything. Then Divine intervention
(I say that because it was arrogance that was driving me) had me to log into Sears Parts.com.
The part was $4 available for pickup. The block of ABS was $6
Just because we can do something doesn't mean we need to do it.?
Download JMRI..........lol
