Locked Re: Copy/Paste Layout Editor panel #layouteditor

Andy,

The following idea violates the rule against loading multiple xml files but may do what you want when handled carefully.

Load the panel xml file 2 times and you will end up with two identical panels.

You will get warnings about duplicated panel names, There may be some side effects, but the main tables such as turnouts and sensors properly handle multiple loads.

If you have a master xml file and create the dual panel file as needed, changes are easier to manage. ?Just rebuild the dual panel file.

On more than one exhibition layout I've worked on, viewing from 2 directions is required - one for the operator and one for the 'public'. Typically one of these requires a 180 degrees rotation.? What I've done to date is to create a new panel with exactly the same block connections and points, but with the different viewing position. This leaves me with 2 panels, both of which are active and used. There is the problem of keeping both in sync, but if done late in the development process, changes are minimal.

I look forward with interest to trying out the modification described in /g/jmriusers/topic/68640374 (Rotation of layout), but what would be really useful would be to copy/paste the panel, and then rotate it to achieve this same result that I've been doing the hard way. Is there an easier for me?

Thanks
Andy
