Step 1: pick a signal system. This means a family of signal masts and a rule
set of how the relate to each other. This sets up how they relate the aspect
of one to the next signal's aspect.
Step 2: Depending on the hardware (your case Se8c) create the signal heads.
Step 3: Create the signal masts from signal heads.
Step 4: Place the signal masts at the block boundaries. Not all boundaries
need to have signals.
Step 5: Build the signal mast logic. Let it automate building it.
Note: while the Se8c uses a turnout command to change the signal, use the
Se8c signal head, let it work out the way it uses the two turnout addresses.
If you need different blinking aspects or dark (approach lighting) then you
must set up the Se8c for '4th aspect is dark', then JMRI can do the flashing
itself.
Does the track icons change color as the occupancy changes? If this isn't
happening, check out the block again, something isn't right.
