JMRI supports the LocoNet over TCP protocol, so:
- Add a Raspberry Pi running JMRI connected to the LocoBuffer
- Configure JMRI on the Raspberry Pi to provide a LocoNet over TCP server on startup
- Configure JMRI on the laptop to use the LocoNet over TCP as its connection
You now have the Laptop running over WiFi only to control the railroad. Note that you could place some automations in the Raspberry Pi (so the laptop is not needed to run JMRI), while still displaying a panel on the Laptop for manual control.
