Thanks for the response Dave.? I kind of discovered these steps by trial and error last night after posting.? ?It is as you say, and it's much more clear to me now.? I now have CATS, TrainStat, and Operations talking to each other.? Here are a few specific tips while they're fresh in my mind:
* You need to have the Simple Server running in jmri,
* In CATS, under Network/Operations, set up the IP info for the Operations machine,
* In CATS, under Appearance/Trace Items, select Operations,
* (If you want to use TrainStat) In TrainStat, under IP Address/Configure IP, set up the IP info for the CATS machine.
Then make the identifications: Station (in CATS) = Location (in jmri), Symbol (in CATS) = Train Name (in jmri).? Now CATS will tell Operations and TrainStat when a train arrives at a station, and Operations will tell TrainStat about current train length, etc.? Very nice!!
The next question I have is: can I export a train list from Operations into CATS without some manual translation step?? For now, I am creating two lists: in CATS/Designer and in Operations, and syncing them by hand.? It would make a lot more sense for Operations to govern the master train list info and make that available to CATS.? I'll poke around some more and see if I can find a way.
