I have in fact followed Jans¡¯s advice and loaded Java and JMRI directly onto the Mac. The iPad functioned directly once I switched on WIThrottle?

I am pleased to say all is working as expected along with using drop box

I am now using my Mac directly at home and windows on the layout

Why not run JMRI directly on the Mac? As a Java program it will run natively and doesn't need the intermediary of Parallels to get to a Windows OS.
