Locked How is/will LCC be handled in JMRI

I am just starting down the LCC trail. Have not purchased parts yet pending a bit more research to make sure I make informed decisions since this could lead to a major investment. To me, a vital element of using LCC is the human interface for set up and configuring it through something like JMRI. I know other options exist but JMRI is my preferred method.
When I look at the LCC info (documentation, example installations, etc) I have found, I noted that they used JMRI for set up and they were typically configuring components from RR-Cirkits since not much other LCC hardware LCC exists at this point. That is good for me because I anticipate using RR-Cirkits components also unless someone else jumps into the game real quick.? However, it got me to thinking about how JMRI was handling LCC and I tried to compare it to how JMRI does the same thing with DCC decoders via DecoderPro. In DecoderPro, the configuration menus change by brand and decoder. That is great and appropriate since each maker puts his own spin and features into his decoders. Even through they are all compliant with DCC standards, they are not all built equal.?
Will the LCC component world play out the same way?? Are the LCC configuration menus currently in JMRI generic for any (future) brand or are they specific to RR-Cirkits components? Who creates and maintains the LCC stuff JMRI software? As new brands start popping up in LCC, how will their components show up in JMRI?
I am trying to consider this as I get ready to buy LCC stuff and determine if it will influence any decisions.
I initially considered posting this on the LCC board ([email protected]) but I think this question is really a JMRI question.
