Locked Re: Signaling Question Using SSL

Howdy Clay.? I don't know much about signaling (although I have developed panels using Signal Heads using SSL with manual triggering of sensors), but without a dispatcher, why would you need to know the direction of travel?? It seems to me that if you are controlling a train (with signals on the layout), you would stop on Red, or go on Green or Yellow in whatever direction you need to go.?

If you want an indicator (Sensor, like an arrow for example) to show on a panel, then Logix could be written to show that using where a train is and where it came from.?

For example, with only manual indicating where a train is (flipping a sensor switch on a panel), I generated a panel showing location of trains and direction of travel if they are between stations.? I planned to use that to represent tracking of track occupancy on a dark territory with reports (On Sheet calls from "Station Operators") indicating that a train has arrived or departed from stations on the layout that would have Station Operators. I used lots and lots of Logix though.

Are you planning to run automatic trains?? Someone else will have to help with that (warrants, etc).
