Hi Guys- I had trouble programming BLI Paragon 3 decoders (I have some P 2 locos I haven't tried yet). I have a bad component on the NCE USB so I'm using a Sprog 3.
I set up a temp roster entry with an address of 3 for the new locos. I thought I could use it to change the loco's address to its 4 digit road number. I could not get this to work at all.
I set the 4 digit address using BLI's own Address Changer. Worked like a charm and the "true" roster entry addressed the loco. BUT still could not program it. The loco did respond to the "Identify" button evidenced by its forward jumps.
Looking back on my old saved forum messages, I went to the "Sound" programing tab and found the item "CV Write Sound Feedback" and set it to "Disable.". This is CV 245, bit 3.
After then writing that page to the loco successfully I was then able to program the entire decoder without a problem.
BTW, the Sprog 3 outputs 14.4 volts true DCC at 0.03 amps using a Rrampmeter in parallel with the tracks. The loco is a BLI 2-10-0 P3.
As I think about it, if I had used the temp roster entry with an address of 3 and gone first thing to eliminate the "sound feedback", I could probably have changed the address effectively.
FWIW... Bob
