Peter ¨C to add to my reply to Steve ¨C I am not creating any consists in the command station and am not using a JMRI throttle to create consists. Only using Engine Driver throttle. With the selective sound preference checked in Engine Driver preferences, I get the following behavior with both a Digitrax based system and an NCE based system:

1.?????? Acquire loco 5507 (sound-equipped). Acquire 5506 (non-sound) and get the edit consist screen which shows 5507 as lead and both travelling forward. Press back button to get to throttle screen. Tap F0 and get headlight on lead unit but not trailing unit. Press F1 and get bell to ring. Press F2 and get horn.
2.?????? Release the consist.
3.?????? Acquire loco 5506 (non-sound). Acquire 5507 (sound equipped) and get the edit consist screen which shows 5506 as lead and both travelling forward. Press back button to get to throttle screen. Tap F0 and get headlight on lead unit but not trailing unit. Press F1 and get bell on trailing unit to ring. Press F2 and get horn on trailing unit.

Doesn¡¯t make any difference if I reverse the order of steps 1 & 3 after rebooting JMRI and Engine Driver.
