Cwt,
First I'd suggest you stick with 4.12, there are issues in 4.10 that are
likely to bite you sometime. Next, make sure you can select if you use the
PowerPax and select to disconnect the grain of wheat bulb. Now I think you
are saying that only the LokSound and Broadway Limited are not working, but
other decoders are working fine. Last I'd check the voltage of the power to
the PowerPax. Unless it is a 18 volt module, I've heard people have issues
with them.
Here are two more items to check:
1. Open Edit->Preferences->Roster->Programmer.
2. Make sure that these are unchecked:
'Allow caching when writing index CVs for read or write operations'
'When possible, confirm CV writes by following them with a read'
3. While we are in the Preferences, check the 'Defaults' to be on LocoNet.
Are you trying to read/write a simple CV instead of more advanced things
like addresses? I ask that as a lead to the next question: Have you turned
off the 'verbal feedback' option? The absolute first thing I try with one of
these decoders is turning off the verbal feedback. I do that because the
decoder tends to go dead while it is talking and on anything beyond a single
read/write command, it will miss the 2nd or other commands. Since these
decoders use Indexed mode, many of the operations require sequences of
multiple CV operations to change one value.
Let's see if this discovers anything meaningful.
