Ok, now that I've had a chance to look at my Mac, I'll come back to this message.
Mine LI-USB-Ethernet also came up with a port of the form cu.usbmodem####, so that is the one you should use.
You should also see a tty.usbmodem1411. That is the same device as cu.usbmodem1411. To the best of my knowledge you can choose either of these.
After you start JMRI, open the preferences.
On your LIUSB configuration, click the "advanced options" checkbox.
Set the "LIUSB connection uses" option to "no flow control".
Save and restart the preferences.
That should get you up and running.
