Locked Problems with writing a script to stop a train at a station.

Hello,

I am trying my hand some automation scripts. I figured making a train stop at station should not be that difficult.

The set up: JMRI latest release, NCE dcc. Using aiu connected to an IR sensor.

I wait for the IR sensor go active then stop the train 2 seconds later. I am crawling into the station so it should take some time to reach the end of the platform. The problem I am having is the train consistently stop at the station platforms.
I know that there are some variable propagation delay involved here but there should be no difference between the aiu signaling the train to stop and my throttle signaling the train to stop. I can always stop the train at the platform using the throttle. Why can't a script be nearly as accurate as a throttle? The AIU uses the same buss as the throttle and the output signal goes out across the same track buss. Does any one have a script that can stop a train at a station platform consistently? If so can you share your secrets with us?

Thanks in advance,
