I just "downgraded" to my Sprog cause I have annoying problems using
JMRI with my Z21.

It happens really often that after writing a CV the system hangs.
The value to write gets red and that's it. I have to close and restart
JMRI. ( I didn't wait for an hour, no. :-) )

Curious that the value has been written when checking afterwards.

As far as I remember it is only the first CV which causes trouble,
trying to write a couple of CVs works, when the first one succeeded.

This happens too from time to time reading values from the loco.

Which information can I provide to help analyzing the problem?
If you can provide me with the Z21 monitor log of a failing variable
read or write, that will help.

What programming mode are you using?

What firmware does your Z21 have installed?

Which configuration should I use? There are still Z21 and Z21ExpressNet
available. Both seem to work but with the problems stated above.
There should only be one configuration option for the Z21. JMRI
brings up two system connections (Z21 and Z21XPressNet) because
internally we treat the Z21 XPressNet tunnel as a separate connection.

The log will tell me how the Z21 responded to the command, and that
will let me determine the cause, which I suspect is Roco deviating from
the XPressNet standard.

Paul
