U.S.-Japan Council?will be the topic of discussion hosted by local social networking group JAJA (Japanese Americans, Japanese in America) on August 21. The focus will be on how USJC?has bridged
the U.S. and Japan through people-to-people connections and diverse programming,?cultivating?an international network that strengthens the relationship between both countries.?
Guest speakers will be our own?David Kenji Chang and Kazu Gomi, who serve on the Board of Directors of USJC. They'll discuss TOMODACHI, partnerships, and what it means to be involved in an organization that is committed to nurturing the U.S.-Japan relationship.
USJC is generously providing sushi for this event, but feel free to bring a side dish, dessert, or beverage to share with the group.?

The Japanese American Community Coalition, a consortium of New York-based Japanese American service organizations, is hosting a special fundraiser for
flood relief efforts in Western Japan, which has been suffering from historic rainfalls, landslides, and an unprecedented heat wave this summer.?This is a collaborative event between many Japanese/Japanese American and Japan-related organizations – Hoshuko
Alumni Association, Japanese American Association of New York, JET Alumni Association of New York, Japanese Medical Society of America,?U.S.-Japan Council, NY?Japanese American?Lions Club,?and Japanese American Citizens League-NY – with the support of the
Consulate General of Japan in New York.
Japanese-inspired hors d'oeuvres will be provided courtesy of Chef John McCarthy of OKA and premium sake, wine, and beer will be served (included in the price of admission). Guests will also have a chance to win special prizes.?100% of the proceeds raised at
this?event will go to JAA’s?Japan Flood Relief Fund. JAA, the Japanese American Association of New York, is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization.
Space is limited, so register early by visiting JACC’s BrownPaperTickets site.

of our most popular events, with over 100 attendees!
For an AMAZING deal enjoy a 3-hour sunset?cruise?departing from the East Side and traveling around the southern end of Manhattan over to the Statue of Liberty and up the west side for stunning
views of the New York skyline (and New Jersey). Spread the word and invite friends, family, and colleagues to join–the more the merrier!
When: Wednesday, August 15, 5:50pm–9:30pm
5:50pm–6:25 pm: Check-in & boarding
6:30 pm (SHARP!):?Cruise?departs
9:30 pm:?Cruise?arrives back at the dock
Who: JET alumni, friends, colleagues–all are welcome! (Must be 21+)
Where: New York Skyport Marina (East River, between E. 20th and 23rd Sts.)
