Carb boot removal

Hi all,
Now that it's cooling off, I'm back in the garage and making improvements on my '90 PC800.
?
I rode it some over summer after work last winter, I should have replaced the carb boots when it was apart. But, life got in the way, had to move and I didn't get to it.
?
I've got carbs off and am looking at the boots - they won't keep a seal and leak. ?They are super hard and stuck on the engine. ?Nothing shocking about that. ?
?
My question: Anyone have any tricks or tips about how to get them off the engine? ?Sometimes I am a knucklehead and miss a super easy solution.
?
Thanks,
ds

It took some work to get mine off. But had to remove the spacer in the boot clamp to get them to seal tight again. Use a seal pick with the 90 or hook at the end. Blunt the end so it’s not sharp and work your way around the boot.?

Thanks! ?I’d have tried removing the spacer on the clamp if I’d have known about it before buying new boots/clamps. ?Live and learn.

? I have a two headed hammer... one head is plastic and the other is rubber... that's infinitely useful including breaking gasket seals and things stuck together without damaging them. It's a tool I'd like to be buried with. In this case, the heads fit perfectly to easily pry the carbs up from the boots on the right side.

After you carefully prize, pull, and force get them off. Check for real cracks and if they are intact, you can soak them in Wintergreen Oil to restore the rubber. Just dont?use your wife's good pan (don't ask how I know this). You will find instructions on YouTube.
If they are too cracked, you can use VT1100 boots from eBay as replacements.
