1989 PC for sale

Good day Coasters,
I have lost my inside storage space for my 89 PC and need to sell it. Short story- all plastics are good but the entire bike was repainted by the original owner in a yellow pearl. It looks great! I have not ridden the bike since before COVID so, as you might expect, it will need a carb rebuild (ran rough when I started it last Fall), tires are out of date, battery is dead, and just TLC to be road worthy again. I do not have the time or interest in putting it on the road again so, It is up for grabs…$500 anyone? Make me an offer. Located in SEPA near Lansdale. Thanks, Here’s a photo from when I bought the bike

When started up with the required choke you will smell a rich mixture as the PC800 does not have a Cat Converter.

There should be a sharp ketone odor from the exhaust. Easily recognized if you have smelled it before.

PC800 is known to be jetted lean. May barely run without an air filter. Clogged air filter would make it run rich, but if you are getting around 47 MPG then probably everything is fine.

Stick your finger in the exhaust. It will probably be black but shouldn’t be thick black soot. Thin black soot ok especially after being started.

Pull the spark plugs and look at them. If wet and/or black then problem.

Re: Runs Rich

You get an A+ on that report. Thats why I usually end up doing everything. I did post a contact for a very good carb rebuilder. He is on Ebay. You put the order in and he will contact you.?

They run lean from the factory. There's a mix tune procedure in the shop manual. You can remove the turn limiting caps on the mix screws by holding a soldering iron to their heads and gently pulling off with needle nose pliers.

There's a lot of variables with carbs so it would help to provide more details though. Are the plugs fouled? Do the RPM's hang when blipping the throttle? Back-firing? Dirty air and fuel filters? Any mods to the air box or a K&N air filter added? Last time carbs were rebuilt? Try running Seafoam through the gas? Etc...

Re: Chains or locks - do you use one?

I realize such a unique, older motorcycle is not going to be too high up the list for theft :D a sound alarm seems like a practical option especially with the wheels all covered up.?

Re: Chains or locks - do you use one?

The placement is something I've been thinking about the most. Rear wheel makes the most sense - front wheel and disc are covered by the plastic. running it through the center stand is a good idea. Thanks!

It's now owned by an older dude who's not online savvy and the reason for sale is it's a no-go with his wife.

Re: PC800 Tail light lens.

I feel like I need to hear this story!

Re: PC800 Tail light lens.

USPS International Mail honestly isn't that bad. I once drunk mailed a NZ friend a cowboy hat from Texas.

Re: PC800 Tail light lens.

It may be time to consider just buying a whole parts bike. I got a nice one with all good plastics for $500.

Re: PC800 Tail light lens.

Hi Gary,

I have a similar situation with a broken tail light and unfortunately eBay is the only place i have seen one for sale. The last two on there were in rough shape with cracks or outright holes.
It's been a few months though since I have looked. I'm in the USA so you might see different options on eBay from what I can see.

Best of luck!

Brian
