I have written before with my numerous issues after upgrading from ?Sonoma to Sequoia
One of the issues, thatr is still not solved, is Time Machine backups.?
2 out of the backups fail with a red info badge saying:?
Time Machine couldn’t complete the backup to “Data-2-8TB”
Time Machine did not finish backing up because some files were unavailable. Backups will resume when your Mac is unlocked.
This happens even dyuring the day as I am working on the Mac. Well, ok, I may leave it for 1+0-15 minutes to talk on the phone og make lunch and stuff, and it falls asleep, but that does not seem to cause this … and I don’t have “put hard disk to sleep when possible” enabled.?
As a test, you can set your Mac to not go to sleep when the display turns off.
Also, had someone recommended you exclude Find My files from your backup? I had Time Machine issues after upgrading to macOS 14 and excluding Find My files resolved the issue. This??might help.

?is Apple’s technology for locating people, devices, and items.
Here is the precise solution that worked for me last year:
Add All com.apple.findmy.findmy* Paths to Exclusion List in Terminal
com.apple.findmy.FindMy* is another problematic extension that could interfere with Time Machine backups in macOS Sonoma. Severing their connection by adding all associated paths of com.apple.findmy.FindMy* to Time Machine exclusion list is one workaround that worked for several Mac owners used to resolve their issue.?
Follow these steps to carry out this operation:
1. Open Launchpad, search for?Terminal?and click to open it.
2.?Then type the following command in the prompt and hit enter: tmutil addexclusion -p ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.findmy*
3.?Terminal will add all paths associated with com.apple.findmy.FindMy* to the Time Machine exclusion list as follows: /Users/username/Library/Containers/com.apple.findmy, /Users/username/Library/Containers/com.apple.findmy.FindMyWidgetPeople, /Users/username/Library/Containers/com.apple.findmy.FindMyWidgetIntentsPeople, /Users/username/Library/Containers/com.apple.findmy.FindMyNotificationsServiceExtension, /Users/username/Library/Containers/com.apple.findmy.FindMyWidgetItems, /Users/username/Library/Containers/com.apple.findmy.FindMyWidgetIntentsItems
4.?Afterwards, try the Time Machine backup again.
Time Machine should run seamlessly now and a fresh backup should be baking in the oven in no time. If for some other obscure reason, Time Machine still does not oblige, you may need to abandon trying to fix it. Instead, use an external drive as a backup disk and backup your Mac using a third-party backup tool.

Apparently my issue has nothing to do with FindMy … forsome reason I must find the answer somewhere else … now experimenting with the Biome folder contents …
I have deleted the complete folder (an the Mac is still running!) and now I tryto run manual backups. Let’s see where that takes me.?

Peter what is Biome? I did a web search and came up with a ecosystem and many apps or video games with that name. As well as an issue in Apple Discussions that sounds like a memory leak or cache overflow.
Biome is a folder in the user Library and it is apparently a part of Apple’s system for analyzing and personalizing user data, like usage patterns and interactions with the device. The data is used for features like personalized suggestions, app usage tracking, and improvements in system behaviours (Siri and typing predictions and such).
I deleted it, and instantly the system created it again.
And it seems to have helped, because my backups are runnning now.

I am trying to learn more about this Biome thing, but I am having difficulty finding info on it.
I understand Peters description of it, I found one article in Apple Discussions, that described either a memory leak or runaway cache, with what seems like behind the scenes software. I get no other relevant hits from a web search. I get no hits from a search on Apple Support.?
When I search my Library for biome, I get a bunch of hits for long forgotten, ?unrelated documents, that I have viewed before, but nothing called “biome”. I may have viewed these documents, but did not save copies of then, or bookmark them. Things that I would normally call detritus. I seldom use Siri, and some of these documents are from possibly before Siri existed. I had wondered that this might be something from Sequoia, until I got the hits on my Mac running Catalina.
