Re: Brave questions
Then dig back in the archives about 3-4 weeks, because I think Randy gave instruction on how to turn it off in Brave for Mac, and it is similar in iOS.

No, I don’t save passwords in Brave. I don’t use Keychain either. I use LastPass for all passwords.

Re: Brave questions
开云体育Do you save passwords in Brave? If so, Brave is storing them in your keychain and thus this dialog is legit. In that case, I recommend entering your password and clicking Always Allow. Then it will stop bugging you.

Re: Macintosh Slowdowns
I wonder whether gparted could do the "secure erase" on an SSD, but I don't have one to play with. Theoretically, a Mac should see a "secure erased" SSD as a brand new one or am I missing something?

Re: Macintosh Slowdowns
Thanks for this Randy. So helpful. With regards to the "not enough free space problem," however: ?perhaps I'm missing something but your site seems to say that when I got my new M1 iMac with a 2 TB SSD and transferred my files from my old 27" iMac (with a 3 TB fusion drive) and overfilled my new drive I was already doomed to slowdowns as deleting files from the SSD doesn't free up the needed space as I thought it did when I moved some stuff to eternal drives. Here's what it says: "You can't simply trash (delete) apps and files to free up space on an SSD that is too full to cure the slowdown problem.? Doing so only marks the registers that they occupied as available, it doesn't erase them." I kept my previous machine for 10 years and bought this one a year ago. I cannot buy a new one now. No other options?

Macintosh Slowdowns
There has been a noticeable uptick in the number of users who are reporting that their Macintosh has suddenly gone from being a good performer, to being a very disappointing performer. Folks are reporting that they are seeing the rotating beachball cursor way too often, or that their computer is showing signs of "built-in obsolescence" (people love their conspiracy theories) even though their Mac was a rocket when it was new, and that nothing helps.
I already had a Web page to help users whose Mac's had slowed down, but suddenly a lot of folks are reporting that none of the recommendations on that page are helping. So, after going through a bunch of troubleshooting with a number of users, and doing a lot of research, it turns out that there are several new things that are commonly causing Macs to suddenly slowdown. Not a lot of Mac users are aware of these new things. I've added them right at the top of my Web page at: Macintosh Slowdown Solutions Please let me know if the page helps with your Macintosh slowdown problem! __________________________________________________ Randy B. Re: MCAFEE ADWARE! Please Read!
I'm not sure about other browsers, but Firefox certainly gives a warning and provides an option at the time to allow the pop-up. You should also look at the settings for the pop-up blocking in the browser and add exceptions.

Airdrop
Paul Lundgren
My wife has an iPhone 8 (iOS 16.5). Her Airdrop does not see anyone, “No People Found”. Her phone shows up on my iPhone 7 and my iMac (Catalina 10.15.7). I can send her photos by Airdrop from my phone and I can send her photos from the iMac. Her Airdrop is turned on ("Contacts Only" - even tried “Everyone for 10 minutes”). Bluetooth is on. I rebooted her phone as well. Nothin’.
I don’t know what else to try. Paul |

Re: Older WhatsApp compatible with iOS 15?
开云体育Looks like the solution is to put WhatsApp on your phone and set up an account. Then get the app onto your iPod using one of the links Jim Warthman sent. (The first looks easy enough, but I don’t have an iPod to test.) Then open the app on the iPod and login. You can also try linking devices, that’s a new feature that I haven’t tried. An alternative would be to buy an old iPhone (such as the 5S that runs iOS 12) and use that. I bought one in prefect condition for $25 on eBay last year and WA works fine on it. I put my regular phone’s SIM into the 5S to create the account, then put it back in the other phone. Jerry

I use a couple of sites that want me to turn off the pop-up blocker in Brave. It asked, I decline and the item continues without 99% of the ads.

Re: Older WhatsApp compatible with iOS 15?
开云体育Hi Denny,Welcome back! Unfortunately, WhatsApp requires a phone with cellular connectivity - either iPhone or Android. I’ve read some articles that describe a method for installing on an iPod Touch, but they are tedious at best. Take a look here: |
