Re: Convert 600 music CD UPC codes to Album Names?

Otto, you are a citizen of the UK, correct. How do the copyright laws differ from those of the US?

What about truth in advertising, liable or several different legal issues??

The issue I am concerned with is loss of income to the rights holder. By giving that CD to another, but keeping the ripped copy, deprived the rights holder of a sale, no matter of what else happens. Is it practical for one missed sale to take legal action? Heck no.?

I hold a copyright of a particular photo. Prior to the sale, the buyer certified in writing that it would only be used for private purposes and not commercial. The buyer was a lawyer. He used it and sold copies. The problem was to prove the sales. The fine if he used it commercially is between $35k & $50k. Unfortunately, he is now dead, and suing his estate is not worth the cost. So, I am out that money, plus the higher price of buying the photo for commercial purposes.?

Have her try this:

Go to a note.
Highlight (select) the part of the note that she wants to share.
Right-click or Control-click.
Choose Share.
Choose Mail.

Make sure that the note you are trying to share isn’t locked.

Have a look at:

Looks like you have to be using iCloud notes to share: ?

I’m thinking that may also mean you have to have an iCloud ?email account set up and synced to iCloud. ?Apple does not specifically say that, but seems it might be worth looking at the mail and iCloud settings. In my Extensions settings, Mail is shown but I can’t select or unselect it, it is just present. ?I do have iCloud mail set up.

And before anyone asks, she does indeed use Apple’s Mail.app on her computer.

Also, when we went to the share icon and chose [Edit Extensions] Apple Mail was not among the choices offered.

From the U.S. Copyright Office FAQ <>:

When is my work protected?

Your work is under copyright protection the moment it is created and fixed in a tangible form that it is perceptible either directly or with the aid of a machine or device.

Do I have to register with your office to be protected?

No. In general, registration is voluntary. Copyright exists from the moment the work is created. You will have to register, however, if you wish to bring a lawsuit for infringement of a U.S. work. See Circular 1,?Copyright Basics, section “.”

Why should I register my work if copyright protection is automatic?

Registration is recommended for a number of reasons. Many choose to register their works because they wish to have the facts of their copyright on the public record and have a certificate of registration. Registered works may be eligible for statutory damages and attorney's fees in successful litigation. Finally, if registration occurs within five years of publication, it is considered?prima facie?evidence in a court of law. See Circular 1,?Copyright Basics, section “” and?,?Highlights of Copyright Amendments Contained in the Uruguay Round Agreements Act (URAA), on non-U.S. works.

I’m, perhaps unfortunately in this conversation, in NYC. It of course depends on the genre, but the median concert ticket here is $80 for R&B, $100 for Pop, and $120 for Classic Rock. (cf. ). A CD would typically be $10–$13.

BTW the only shop we have that sells CDs is HMV, and the selection is not, and can not be, comprehensive, so I buy CDs online. This is often at Amazon, but elsewhere if cheaper, and l also if the price is close enough (I don't like monopolies so support others when I can).?

Going even further astray, as just a point of mostly unknown law, my understanding is that literally anything that one creates is automatically copyrighted in the eyes of the law, with no formal process of any kind.

The inevitable problem can become defending your copyright if it is infringed upon and proving that you were the first to create the item.?

One may, of course, formally register trademarks, service-marks, copyrights, etc., with the appropriate governmental agencies as a preemptive strategic formal way to document and memorialize the item.

In the end however, one may be faced with the same infringements, however, at least a formal registration can go a long way in a court of law as evidence.

Remember the ?Led Zeppelin 'Stairway to Heaven' case?
Case in point.

I forget now all the details.

BEHOLD . . .?
