I just purchased a used IC 7000. When I transmit, I hear my voice in the speaker or headphones. It is a faint crackly reproduction of my voice. The speaker monitor menu is set to "off", so in theory at least, there should be no sound during transmitting. The problem occurs in all bands, on both my antennas, and even while using my dummy load. The only way I have been able to stop it is to reduce the transmit power to 10%. I cleaned the fuses, and even tried the power cable from my Kenwood. No difference. I removed the tuner from the antenna circuit. No change. Added split core ferrites to all leads on the radio. no change. One odd thing I noticed is that when I lightly touch the headphone plug, the radio amplifies the sound of my touching the plug and outputs that sound into the speaker. And yes, I verified that headphone was plugged into the correct jack on the radio. I have run out of things to check, so I plan on returning the used IC 7000 to the vendor. I am considering buying a new 7000, but I wanted to ask this group if other users hear audio while transmitting. Thanks in advance for your responses. John KC0UUT

Good Morning All.... I have a weird one on the bench, when I have had IC7000's with no output on any band it has always been an input/output feed or driver board issue. The unit I am working on has RF into the driver board and DC Bias, Supply rail on the output side but almost no RF out so i thought, driver board dead, easy fix......but no.... I removed the board and it looks like new, the board tests ok on a component tester, Per Icom's advice I have reset the CPU. My next step is to replace the driver board in case something funky is going on with it, what do the Guru's here think of a diagnostic step may have missed. Thanks, any help is always appreciated. Just bought an IC7000 and am new to the group. I'll be using it mainly for POTA work, using an 40-10 endfed antenna. Do I need a tuner? If so, and there isn't an AT-180 available, what should I look for? Thanks, Pete K2UPD

Hi all, Apologies if you’ve already seen this post on Facebook. I’ve just mounted my IC7000 using a DM5AL separation kit in my car and was planning on removing the head unit between use, just wondering if this is ok or might cause issues? I’ve noticed that the retaining clip that pulls back on the head unit has got scratched a hit it the post on the DM5AL mount and wondering if this might cause issues longer term, also wondering about wear on the spring pins pins in the head unit, just wondering if these parts or any others are likely to break and if so if they are replaceable with parts available! (P.s Ive read that the base unit needs unplugging from power when the head unit is attached/detatched so I’ll fit a switch in the power cable) Thanks James
