Keith LaBorde - K4KAL
开云体育I'm not saying this is a hoax...

The US Number will likely be IC-7XX where XX is to be determined. __________________________________________________________ Howard S. White Ph.D. P. Eng., VE3GFW/K6 AE6SM "No Good Deed Goes Unpunished" "Awfully Extremely Six Sado Masochist" ----- Original Message -----

My guess is, since ICOM seems to be edging closer to using the same model designator worldwide, that it will use the same designator here as elsewhere, although who really knows...? It might end up not being IC-7000 anywhere! Thanks for the group, guys! 73, Paul K4PDM __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! I remember hearing from my brother (a manager at Radio Shack at the
time) about 15 years ago Radio Shack was planning the release of a new piece of equipment (a Ham Rig or a computer, I can't remember). They started one of these vapor-ware rumor-mills and monitored the discussion. When it seemed as though everybody was "sure" what features it should have, the top execs said......"OK, build it like that..." They sold a bunch of them! 'Cause they gave people what they wanted. Could it be that Icom is dong the same.....? Ken - NM9P --- In ic7000@..., "Keith LaBorde - K4KAL" <k4kal@a...> wrote: I'm not saying this is a hoax...adobe Photoshop hoax? That would be a good marketing idea, but I don't really tnink so as
it seems to me (IMHO) that guessing or knowing what we users expect is not that difficult. However the difficult part is to materialize the wishes into real radio with real consumer's small pocket availability, thus selling good quantities and assuring net margins at the manufacturer's expectations levels. 73 - PU2VGA --- In ic7000@..., "nm9p" <nm9p@y...> wrote: new piece of equipment (a Ham Rig or a computer, I can't remember).wanted. <k4kal@a...> wrote: already?I'm not saying this is a hoax... an adobe-----------Photoshop hoax? I spoke to Icom France (Country from where we first saw the ad) and
they confirmed that they expect to have more info shortly and that the radio would see its days before the end of this semester. By experience with the french market, it always takes longer than expected but for the facts I have seen, I do believe there will actually be one available this year. Arrgh!! You're right. And I am a firm believer in the metric system, even though living in the USA. My Dutch-born mother-in-law says that if she could learn the US system at age 40+, everyone else can learn the metric system if they start in school.

In Europe, the old measures often linger on, but have been rationalised to the metric system. In Germany, one can still buy "ein Pfund" (one pound) of potatoes at the greengrocer's. One pound = precisely 0.5 kg. In Bavaria, one orders "ein Mass Bier" (a measure of beer) at the pub. The "Mass" is a 1-litre mug. Back to the IC-7000; its weight should be about the same as the IC-706MkIIG - around 2.5 kg (5.5 lb, US or Imperial.) Cheers for now, 73, Adam VA7OJ/AB4OJ -----Original Message-----
