LThe Yaesu one is for a specific need as the displays on the FT-897 etc are utter crap (contrast worse than a 1980s watch) so there is a niche for selling an aftermarket addon. The IC-7000 on the other hand has no such problems with one of the most easily read screens on the market and also gives bigger screen video if you need it.?
Just a shame the penny pinching bean counters re verted to cheap mono for its successor.the 7100. I can't understand that as it would have made up for people's criticism of the strange form factor.

As for doing a CAT display on the 7000, or any other rig, all you need is a mini computer such as a raspberry pi and screen running FLRig, BKT7000 or HRD.?

Easy peasy and free if you already have a pi or small laptop doing nothing!
