Well technically the Signalink won't do any baud. ? I have used
mine on VARA FM WIDE and have achieved 25210 bps in both sending and
receiving Winlink emails.

A Signalink will not do 9600 baud. I suppose they have
their place but I don't own nor will I ever.
John, I found the 9600 setting you mentioned. M3 F-4,
thanks for the tip.

that is the question.
Hi John,
Signalink USB's always use USB mode on the rig and makes a
matching cable for each rig so it's an easy setup.
I just got my 7000, and I'm getting ready to hook up a
Signalink USB but haven't gotten time to do it yet.
They work great on my other rigs, FTDX-9000D and Elecraft
K3.
After a quick look at the manual, the 6pin DIN should be the
proper port for the Signalink USB.

I tried using the Accessory port with my Signalink but it
would never key up the radio. When I switched to the 6 Pin
DIN plug it worked fine. I haven't tried my Digirig on the
IC-7000, but the 6 Pin DIN plug cable & Digirig seem to
work with every radio I have that has the corresponding
port.
When you use VARA FM WIDE don't forget to switch the radio's
data speed to 9600. I sometimes forget it, but even VARA
Narrow is still pretty quick.

I setup a DigiRig to my IC-7000 and connected
the audio in/out/PTT to the Accessory connector. I was
wondering if there is a compelling reason to use the DATA
jack instead? From what I read in the manual the mic audio
is muted when PTT is asserted through the DATA jack and I
can confirm it is not muted when keyed via the Accessory
jack. SO I should disconnect the mic when running digital
modes.
I'm thinking it would be proper to use the DATA jack just
because of that.
Taking VARA FM WIDE out of the mix (would require using
the 9600 bps output on the DATA jack), for VARA HF/FM,
fldigi (PSK, RTTY, Olivia) or perhaps a voice keyer, is
there any other reason to prefer one over the other
(Accessory vs DATA AF OUT)?
What has been your experience?
Thanks
