Well after 7 years the PTT switch finally went in my 7000. I was on 40, mobile last week, checking into ECARS. Netr control turned it back to me and the rig would nbot go into xmit. Thought I blew the finals again. Not too mnuvch I couild do atr 70 MPH. I ws surprised there is no xmit switch on the front panel. Never looked for one befotre. After a whilke the braib engaged and I used the casnned CQ I hasd in memory. Yes, I had full output. Eventually I wnt to VOX and had somne QSO's.
Could not do anything wiyth the mike since I was visitring famikly for Christmas and 500 miklews away from ythe home QTH. Wekll today I finally got to the mike. Thougt the RJ45 was the culprit but I had continbuity. Took the mike aopart/ Everything is on a PC board. Not too much to go wrong thee. The PTT swtrich is a tiny critter. Had to probre but I eventuaklly convinced myself it was not working. Thought I would pull the switch. Reachred for the solder wick. What a waste of time. The pins are such a tight fit it was imposssible for me tio clear all thre solder. It loks like the onl;y way to remove the switch is to desroy it and remove the pins one aqt a time. That did not appeal to me. I was embarassed to figure it had to go back to UICOM for a switch! Eithrer that ior buy ased muike.
