Yes, I figured as much about the additional hardware requirement. I guess the 7000 will otherwise be pretty feature packed so
no complaints from me.

I'm planning to attend the Dayton Hamvention so with any
luck Icom will have a prototype (at least an empty box with
a mock up front panel :) and/or brochures. Perhaps we'll get
a preview in the May issue of Japanese CQ !

Is there any word on whether the IC-7000 bandscope will be operational
during receive (AF), like my 756PRO, or will the receiver be disabled when
using the bandscope like the 706 ?
