Found the answer to my problem this weekend by fooling around and adjusting the output attentuation level in DM780 to its highest setting. Transmit power stays pretty steady now allthough I still show a couple small bars on the ALC meter on the radio, I havent had any complaints. Apparently my soundcard in my computer is extremly sensitive and by adjusting the output attentuation level to it highest setting its more easily controlled.
