I have a problem that I've been trying to solve for 3 ? weeks.
I am trying to get an ICOM IC 7000 to work with the ICOM remote software
RS-BA1. Everything is working like it should except it will not
transmit to the radio. I have to claim that I am an experienced user
because I also have an ICOM IC- 7600 that the same software runs
perfectly upon.
The major difference between the software running on the two radios, is
that the IC 7600 is connected to the PC with a USB cable, while in the
IC 7000, it is connected with an RS232 cable along with an audio cable.
The necessary CI-V cables are connected to the IC-7000 and the attached
IC-PW1 Amplifier with an ICOM CT17 device.
To use the RA-BA1 software with either radio, firstly the UTILITY module
application is started on the desktop PC that is attached to the radio.
This, then serves as a server, using the Internet with the remote
software on a Laptop to make the VoIP connection with the radio.
One difference occurs in the software with the IC 7000 because it does
not use the USB cable, like the IC 7600 does, in the "Server
setting"->"Radio Registration" dialog; and that is, the name
of the sound card must be inserted in the TX and RX field. All of this
I have done.
Once the utility module is executing on the desktop PC it is left
waiting in standby for a signal from the remote laptop.
If this point, we are now using solely the remote laptop. Again,
another instance of the RS-BA1 UTILITY Module, with different settings,
than were used on the desktop PC, is started. In it, the user using the
Internet VoIP connection is used to make contact with the radio. At
this point the audio from the radio can be heard on the laptop. All of
this, is working like it is supposed to.
The next step is to start the RS-BA1 REMOTE Module. With this module,
all user interaction with the radio through the Internet occurs. I am
able to correctly manipulate the radio in all respects (such as changing
frequencies, bands, etc.).
However, when I try to transmit voice to the radio, nothing is getting
there. I can hear everything on the radio but they cannot hear me. I
will add that when I watch green status bars on the Laptop soundcards,
they ARE showing activity. There seems to be no way to make and
transmit like it is supposed to. Why does the soundcard audio NOT go to
the radio in the software?
My big question here to others in this user group, is "is it even
possible to do this with a iC-7000"? ICOM claims the IC 7000 is
supported with the software, but with rigorous Googling of the Internet
I cannot find any evidence that anybody has ever succeeded. I am very
close to coming to the conclusion that this is impossible in that there
are bugs that exist in the Computer Software or in the radio itself.
Does anybody have any good advice that they would be able to furnish me
I would deeply appreciate it?
Sincerely, Tom Kohli WA4TE
