No objections, Richard. I think I could make it simpler or easier to understand (e.g. all those autossh options) if that helps.
Traditionally I have used cygwin on windows which comes with a complete ssh infrastructure. Recently I use WSL2 more and more which also comes with robust ssh. Let me take a quick look at native Windows SSH. I am sure that will work, too.
