Need PCB maker who can use Easytrax

Hi all,

I've been making my own PCBs for many years using the old Protel freeware Easytrax and/or Autotrax running under DOSBox. My versions don't have the Gerber drivers which I have never needed. They have served me well but now a situation has come up where I need to make several copies of one of my old designs. I could do it myself but it would be much easier to have the boards made commercially. They are simple single sided with no fancy features.

Does anyone know of a PCB manufacturer who can work with the old PCB files? Or if not, is there any software that converts Easytrax or Autotrax .pcb files to a more modern format? I'm in Melbourne, Australia.

Thanks,

Morris

This "might" help?

Definitely learn Kicad. It is best for hobby. It's complete. The best. And it's free.

I am unaware?of any PCB house that can still use EasyTrax. Any software that would convert from EasyTrax to another format would also be long gone by now and would have only converted to an old version of some other format, leaving you in the same position! You might try exporting to an image format and then using an image to Gerber. If you do, be sure to check your board for proper dimensions?and placement. Sometimes errors crop into the image conversion and a few adjustments may be needed.

If you ask me if it can be done. The answer is YES, it can always be done. The correct questions however are... What will it cost, and how long will it take?

You are lu ky to get conversion foat to 274x from 274d? . Once you make 274x? gerber files most pcb houses turnout your job. All.the best.?

Thanks very much to everyone who replied to my post. I'm especially grateful to Sam Reaves who helped me solve the problem in a series of private emails.

All the best,

Morris

Can you share the solution for others' benefit?

Donald.

Morris,
You can download EasyTrax v2.06, which does have Gerber capabilities, from?
Also, a "Windows" version of AutoTrax at the same address. ?It also has Gerber capabilities.

Protel Systems, which later became Altium, originated both softwares.

Good luck with your project.

Cheers,
DaveM

Once I get the chance I'll work up a paper on it. Still finalizing the details and checking artwork. If anyone has an EasyTrax (not AutoTrax) pcb file that they could send to me I would like to do some more testing as there are some issues with the silkscreen. It may have to do with rotated parts I do not know. I need some real artwork other than the demo boards. All artwork will be held in confidence if it is sensitive in nature but please state so.
