Glass tube?? ? What resonator? ? With flying mirrors? ? Ain’t gunna happen. ? We’re not cutting either, so the beam is going to get reflected back all the time. ? Still ain’t gunna happen. ? It’s more likely to happen with a laser diode. ? Tony ? ?

That happens at the pierce or etching (which is what you are doing).? Once the cut starts its typically OK (unless you lose the cut)
CO2 & copper is a gamble I wouldn't take.
But for that application I'd just get a like a 5w-7W LED and roll.
