Re: Replace Vibrato/Chorus selector switch on B3
开云体育Ok. Thanks for that Scott. Now I remember ; when I first rebuilt the b3 .... it was 25 years ago ... the vibrato switch is sort of like the way the percussion switch works. Certainly not like the plain rotary switch. Thanks so much Scott; your awesome knowledge is a fantastic resource for all of us. John in Brooklyn Sent from my T-Mobile 4G LTE Device |
Re: Replace Vibrato/Chorus selector switch on B3
John, These switches were made expressly for Hammond and so not replaceable with any new, over-the-counter part. You have to service these from underneath. You will have to lift the entire panel that contains the switches, drawbars, and this knob. There should be instructions for that part widely available on the web.

The box containing all the vibrato switches has a removable bottom underneath, and the method of securing this lid did change over the years, going from screws to, later, clips/clamps.? The screws are VERY easy to lose when you get them out, especially when you're trying to put them back in! Advise you get a small screwdriver with a screw-holding clamp. Also, place a towel underneath the screws in case you drop one-- you will. You will invent new ways of swearing. Once you get in there, you will see a series of gears and linkages attached to the rotary switch. Toothbrush, WD-40, then OIL. Done. On 1/25/2020 8:30 AM, johnrwillb3 via Groups.Io wrote:

Replace Vibrato/Chorus selector switch on B3
HI!
The vibrato selector switch on my B3 has become hard to turn. The knob stripped and couldn't hold enough to operate the rotary switch anymore. I tried putting some penetrating oil on the switch but that did'nt work. Does anyone know the exact rotary switch to buy? Is it just a 6 position rotary switch? I have looked on all the Hammond sites and cant find it available.? I was also looking for the rotary knob too, couldn't find it either, have to repair the one I have. Any help would be appreciated! X-66 Question
Greetings -
I have had Hammond organs since the 60's, but I'm
new to the X-66.? I just acquired one and learning all about it.? My one
question at the moment is how to remove the "Special Effects Panel" so I
can remove and bypass the key switch.
Any words of wisdom would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Bob

开云体育I am in Boise, Idaho and J have a X-66 and matching cabinet. IT is a project but is at least partly working. I need more space and it is time for me to move this out. Anyone interested? Free to an interested person. I am out of space and running out of energy! thanks Rich Reid On 1/12/2020 5:21 PM, Presnalsjp via

Re: A 100 stuck note
I went to the church today, I shocked the 6th harmonic after disconnecting the wire from the drawbar both B and Bb ,?
still had the problem even after beating on the key,, so then I shifted the busbar about 1/2 turn and that seemed to correct the problem. I can only hope it remains problem free.? I would have expected the shocking would have been sufficient. I left scratching my head... thanks to all...…? 顿颈...….. |
Re: A 100 stuck note
开云体育You would need to unsolder the wire from the end of the drawbar,
and connect your batteries between this wire and ground, if you
connect the batteries directly to the drawbar, the battery's power
will simply be shorted straight to ground through the primary of
the matching transformer. I don't know whether or not this would
harm the transformer or not, but probably best avoided. In any
case the current wouldn't be going to the dendrite, where you want
it to go with the wire still attached to the drawbar. Make sure as
well, that you have the appropriate preset key selected. It would
be no good zapping a drawbar in the Bb group if the B preset was
selected. On 17/01/2020 14:11, Diayne McComis

Re: A 100 stuck note
开云体育Have them tap the key 20 times as fast as they can and see if it goes away. ?Might be dendrites. On Jan 16, 2020, at 4:19 PM, Diayne McComis <diayne@...> wrote:

A 100 stuck note
I got a call from a Church with a problem on an A 100 with a note playing with no keys down, this how it is described to me.
?Lower manual with the 6th harmonic? drawbar pulled out, the 2nd B on the lower manual plays part time without? the note being played, this is on presets Bb and B tabs used, of course one at a time. If you play the first B same manual it stops for a while and then comes back on. If you push the drawbar in it don't play. The organ was moved from one Church to another 2 weeks ago about 20 miles carefully. Original owner said he never noticed any problems like that, but wasn't sure. My thought maybe a broken wire in the manual, but after looking at the way they are constructed it seems unlikely. Any thoughts on this would be appreciated, something like shifting the busbars, beating on the note, or ??? Thanks for any info..... 顿颈...….. |
Re: Free to a good home!
开云体育That's the one. I'd incorrectly described it as the Cougar (a model of the same vintage using similar technology). Got the correct model series number though, 5***. The Cougar series was 7***. Quite possibly the organ offered by the original poster is a UK
(or maybe Europe) only model. I recall Hammond UK doing a big
promotion on the Cougar and Maverick as a fortieth anniversary
range in 1973. On 13/01/2020 00:21, Presnalsjp via

As it states in the description of the Cougar, that model had drawbars as well as?tabs; the Maverick?had all tabs. [ ![]() [Photo from the same Wikipedia page as above.?Attributed: 'By dave from kansas city - Some kind of Hammond organUploaded by shoulder-synth, CC BY-SA 2.0, '] |
Re: Free to a good home!
Hi all,
Poking around, I see (I have no idea how reliable this wiki info is) it says, "Cougar 1973–1976 Transistor spinet organ with drawbars, in some extent, corresponded to a kind of successor of L-100 series tonewheel spinet organ, although its new drawbars arrangement is slightly exotic; its upper manual has normal nine drawbars; on the other hand, lower manual has only two 8' drawbars with sawtooth. This anomalous design was only followed by a few models (8000 series, 8100 series, and 8200 Aurora series)" |
