Re: [hammond_zone] Have you though of... WAS Re: What t402 I thinks of it :) ...

Raul, I don't know if I necessarily understand your technical talk but I
think there was some kind of early electronic organ (Wurlitzer???) that had a
revolving disk with a pattern on it that was read with an electric eye. I
don't remember exactly what it was and it was SO long ago that all I could
remember thinking at the time was that this was kind of an optical type of
tone wheel. I'm not sure where to look for information but I think what I
saw was in an old music magazine ad. George

Re: [hammond_zone] Leslie 825 BURNED!!!

You can download the manual from this site, there are usually schematics in
the back of Leslie manuals. Is there no schematic on the side of the amp, I
always liked how Leslie did this.

If any one is ever looking for a Hammond or Leslie manual or schematic,
this site covers most of the popular models. A must have in your Favorites.

Hey!

I just lost what looks to be either a reistor or a diode (judging
by it's black, charred appearance) on my Leslie 825. On the board
attached to that HUGE heat sink.. ANy ideas? Any suggestions? It
burned, then the poor thing hummed like a son-of-a bitch while I
heard it crackling inside. After the smoke cleared, I saw just this
resistor/diode charred, but no noticable damage to any other
components around it... What will I need to replace? ANybody have a
decent Schematic for one of these Leslie 825's?

Thanks!

Brian

PS - Still looking for an OrganMate Reverb if anybody knows of one
for sale...

Two things Laddie - One, what Ron B said about the console speakers
being lower-fi than a leslie's horn driver, and one suggestion - Try C3
Vibrato, 8' only (008 000 000). That particular drawbar with the Chorus
Vibrato on (which peaks up the highs a bit) can keyclick dead a Palmetto
Bug at 20 paces.

Hi Chris,
I have an A-100 and I don't think I hear any key click at all. Of
course, being 68, my hearing is not what it used to be, but the organ
has been in the family since it was new and I don't recall any "key
click" from my better hearing days. We do not have a Leslie on the
A-100. Would that make the difference?

Hey ronnie,

Speaking of Tom Coster,i got to sit just off stage and watch him work last
october. What a blast and he's a heck of a nice guy to boot.He came to town
with a small combo and rented my friends B3 and 122x2 for the nights gig.

M101 recaped now...not magical but....

Hi zonners

Folowing you suggests i recaped my hammond m101 organ.
Not with polypro but with good capacitors.

It is not magical... but it sound good now. Like if
the organ is on is feet now. No sceaming treebles and
i got a good medium and low frequency sound. it has
more oxygen, the organ is more breathing.

I am happy.

I now have the very last problem, after many month
working on it... poor contact on one key.
Do i have to use the buss shifter and what it is? i
didn t saw this screws on the upper manual.

Have fun mate.

Hello you all,

Today's my birthday. From this day on I am officially an adult(that's right 21). My parents gave my Live in Japan - Deep Purple and Abraxis - Santana. So there'll be a lot of Hammond plessure!
Since I had to wait 30 minutes for my train, i thought it'd be nice to visit the nearest keyboardshop, which have a XB3. I know a lot of people say a XB3 isn't real. But it's a great piece of machinery if you ask me. It was hooked up to the 11 pin leslie 122. The only minor is the place of the leslie switch. There was not halfmoon switch. Another thing is that the pedals could not keep up the volume of the manuals. But i guess this a digital editable parameter I couldn't find. The overdrive is acceptable too. But when I asked the price, all of my intrest was over. 17.000 dollars including leslie.

Isn't that a nice price for that new 1973 B3? maybe 15.000 becouse there ain't a leslie included.

I'm still checking my neighbours to see if some one has a hammond hidden in the garage or something. Most of the people aren't aware of the value. tell then I'll stick to my L100.
Now I going o listen to my new CD's!
Boy is that John Lord screaming!!

Re: Tonewheel generators

Guys...did you see my post linking to the patent? Its still valid.
Please make sure you cover your backs on this one or you could get
yourselves into trouble if you want to market it:( I still think a
recon exchange scheme would be a better bet..safer and more viable.

About the shielding with steel your right about that. How
about a lower
grade
stainless steel that is magnetic,I think the material cost would be
offset by
less
handling and no plating or paint either. The stainless may discolor
but NO
rust
and can be polished for a show model.

Re: xb3

Great to hear your story, I thought you would like to know....there
should have been a half moon switch on the XB3....they are shipped
with the instrument, the shop must have forgoten to fit it! Did you
find 'aftertouch Leslie Switching'? Its great for those gospel type
chords, dive in to the keybed and accelerate the Leslie. Also you can
change speed by footswitch and on the touch tabs.

Think about the price, in 1939 my Model E cost 625 pounds...that was
the same as two reasonable sized suburban semi detached houses!!
Suddenly 15g's doesnt sound so bad! Somebody was making some money
the werent they???

Best Wishes,

Darren

Some organs have louder keyclick than others. A Leslie will definatley
bring out more keyclick than the internal speakers or a tone cab. The
Hammond speakers do not reproduce the same high frequencies that the treble
driver in the Leslie does, so the Leslie has more pronounced keyclick.

Hi Ron,
Yes, I know the feeling... and if you wait .. all will come your way.. I have to agree. It is the waiting that
is painful... so you buy it anyway...And, there is nothing wrong with being CHEAP. So, many just won't
admit it. You are an honest person.

Well YES, I am cheap. Only because everytime I spend a lot of money on
something, I find the same item for way cheaper a little while later. Now I
just wait for the deals.
Loves a good bargain,

Don't do anything I wouldn't do.
21 does not have to make you an adult, I have decided to stay a kid 'till
