Re: [hammond_zone] Anybody carrying the beast?

I have to get a clone. My wife won`t let the beast into
the apartment. The real 'B3' I play will be the one at
church. She said I can have a Leslie, but it has to be
portable. I love my wife!

Re: [hammond_zone] Anybody carrying the beast?

Hi,
IM look for a Manuel on xb-7. Dose anyone know how where I can find one?

Hi Jimmy and all,
My tragedy is that I scratched the woodwork of my XB-1 and I can't find any replacement part. By the way, any help or tip would be greatly appreciated.
My B-3 story oftriumph : I bought mine from a canadian recording studio without hearing it before. It was very cheap so I made up my mind for buying it before someone else stole it from me! Some would think I'm totally crazy... so do I, but it was worth it : I'm now a happy owner of a Hammond "oh-my-god" B-3 organ which sounds and plays great.
?
Gotta go, my neighbors miss me cracking the walls.

I guess, Roger, an expert here will give you what you need, but if you don't get what you want I might be able to help. Let me know who you want to copy.

Anybody carrying the beast?

Jimmy Lange

Hey Hammond brothers & sisters,
I've seen a lot of talk here about all the clones
but not a lot of discussion about the Hammond
consoles ( B-3, C-3, etc. ). Is anybody still carryin'
around the beast or am I the only dinosaur left in
this crowd? ( and perhaps not the brightest one
in the bunch, I suppose you could say. )
My B-3 / 122 rig is at the heart of our band's
sound and people come up all the time at shows
and comment how much they enjoy having that
sound as well as being able to experience it up
close. Many have seen B-3's on big concert
stages, but never really got to get a personalized
tour like the one I always feel so obliged to give
them. Even after hauling this thing around for
nearly 30 years I'm still so totally in love with the
sound and the sheer beauty of this instrument.
I totally respect how far the clones have come
and don't dis anybody for that choice, but for
me there will always be just ONE Hammond. I love
being surrounded by that georgeous wood and
feeling those low rich chords move through my
body. I keep my Leslie directly behind me about
3' up so when I lean back against the cabinet I
get the full vibe. It's awesome!
Hope to hear from you all in the future and I'd
be interested in hearing about any customized B-3
and Leslie combos as well....like what do you all
know about " Groove Tubes " for a Leslie 122 ?
Keep the faith!
Sincerely,
Jimmy Lange

Jimmy i'm still carrying the C3 and 122 leslie about . I'm from kalgoorlie
in Western Australia, and iv'e owned this gear for about 30 years too. I
don't get work any more. The band scene here is non existant and when
something does happen nobody wants a hammond player because of the size of
the gear. I also have an L100 and and M100 and an X5 as well as 2 leslie
122's and a760 and an 820/860 pair. this pair is furiously loud but not the
warm valve sound.

I suggest you put a couple of photos on a mail for us to see, perhaps we can figure out what it is by sight. Do you happen to have some dates for production of these speakers?
?
I am very anxious to learn more of these and to get varified whether these are in fact Hammond products. As mentioned before I have never heard of these before.
?
Best regards
Lars

Re: [hammond_zone] M3/147

I've recently bought an M-3 and 147 separately and want to hook the two up
together.
Congratulations!

As far as the audio connection, is it simply a case of connecting
the speaker out of the M-3 to the signal in on the Leslie?
Yes.

or is there more to it than that?
One thing to be careful of is that you want to keep a load
(of roughly 8 ohms) on the amplifier. To help you do this the 147
has a switchable load resistor which can be set to 8 ohms, 16 ohms
or off (high impedance).

So, if you leave the built-it speaker hooked up and hook the 147 up
in parallel, you should set disable the load resistor in the 147 amp.
If, on the other hand, you unhook the built-in speaker, you should
make sure the load resistor switch is set to 8 ohms.
(If you install a main/echo/ensemble switch, you should enable the
load resistor, probably 8 ohms.)

There's a schematic of the Leslie hookup kit used for hooking
spinets to 147's at:

If you have an older M-3, with a field-coil speaker (four wires
going to the speaker), you should make sure to leave the field
coil hookup up, as it's integral to the power supply for the
AO-29. (If you do want to remove the speaker entirely, the field
coil can be replaced by a power resistor; or, better still, you
can rebuild the AO-29 to PM speaker specs.)

M3/147

Hi all,
I've recently bought an M-3 and 147 separately and want to hook the two up
together. As far as the audio connection, is it simply a case of connecting
the speaker out of the M-3 to the signal in on the Leslie or is there more
to it than that?
Thanks,
Darren.

Re: [hammond_zone] M3/147

Dear Darren,

The M-3 comes in different variations, and if you have one of the early ones you have to take care. These use special speakers (electrostatic) and you can see that by the fact that 4 wires goes to the speaker, and not as normal 2. Please inform which kind of speaker you got.

On the speed-control it is important to open the leslie and control the voltage on the relay. you can take the part no. and I will tell you what to do.

Then there is equally a question of power. Does the leslie have seperate power cord, then the issue is simple. But if not it has to be supplied by the cord from the organ. Again check what kind of Leslie you got in that respect. Does it say 110V/117V or 220/234V ?

Best regards
Lars

Re: [hammond_zone] Leslie&X66 Speakers

Thanks Lars......Yes I do have the X66 it came with a Condor Sound System ?
Innovex by Hammond... This is all new to me as I always had Wurlitzer organs
and always wanted the X66.. I don't know what happened to the Tone Cabinet
for it. ?This X66 belonged to an entertainer, that is probably why I have
these four big Condor speakers with the organ. ?I was told that the organ's
real sound comes best with the tone cabinet made for it..I don't know as I
never heard it with it. Another person told me a Leslie 122 would sound good
with it and another said it would sound terrible,I don't know as I am new to
the whole Hammond sound anyway, ?But i do like the sound of the X66.Do you
have the X66??? Regards,Jim.

Its relatively simple to convert from 220 V to 110. My Hammond service center here has a very knowledgeable technician which I have been using for the past 25

which I would include with purchase price. Looking forward to hearing from you. Thanks Lars!

Hi,

I do have several B-200 for sale - the B-100 is kind of rare,
actually I have never seen it around. The thing is only if you need
a US version of the B-200 I can not help you. All I got are
european.
