When you say wiring diagram, do you mean schematic diagram?

Re: X-66 Trouble shooting Help

Bob,? Glad to hear the good news, you and others can go on youtube? and type? in X66 to see and hear what they sound like. Paco, and others play several songs there.

PR 40 UK wiring diagram

I have two PR 40 tone cabinets.? These are both UK 240 volt models and the wiring is slightly different in each. One has stopped working, (only a very feint organ signal can be heard from the cabinet) and as I am not proficient electronically, a friend who is a retired electronics engineer has taken a look at it and compared it to the working model.? The problem is that they are not exactly the same wiring, so he requires a wiring diagram and I have taken copies of the two wiring diagram varients shown on the captain foldback site to give to him. ? I was going to say to him that of course these would be 115 volt USA versions, and in my ignorance I suspect that will be enough for him to work with, but is there a diagram for a UK 240 volt model available anywhere and am I correct in thinking that there are two wiring varients on the PR 40?

Thanks\

Chris

Video and/or soundfile(s), or it didn't happen! ;-)

But seriously, I've never heard an X-66.? I would love to see and/or hear one.

Re: X-66 Trouble shooting Help

Hey Jim -

Good news is the X-66 is up and working to my satisfaction.? Everything is great with exception of two keys missing the 16' stop.? I added a pre-amp in line with the tone cabinet so I could tweek? base and treble for the 4 channels to my liking.? It really sings great!!!!
?
The good news is? I won't be bothering you for a while.? The bad news is that in the near future I'm gonna start working on my other X-66.? I've learned a lot on this one so hopefully I won't be as needy next time around.
?
Mega thanks to you and others who have offered advise and support along the way.? I owe you one.

Re: Second Drawbar problem?

8' pitch is unison pitch, the same pitch as a piano. 16 is an octave below, 5 1/3 a fifth above, and 4 an octave above. Playing the middle C key with the first four drawbars out, you should hear.? C below middle C, Middle C, G above middle C, and C above middle C. The remaining drawbars should sound, 2 2/3; G in the second octave above middle C,? 2; C two octaves above middle C, 1 3/5; E in the third octave, 1 1/3; G? in the third octave,? and 1; C three octaves above middle C. Highly unlikely that any one drawbar would be playing the wrong pitch, this is determined by the internal wiring of the manual keyboard. Two drawbars could be swapped in pitch if the wires to the back of the drawbars were not in the right order. Correct order is, brown, red, orange,? yellow, green, blue, purple, grey, white,? from 16 foot to 1 foot.

Subject: [hammondzone] Second Drawbar problem?

?

Hi,

?

Since a few weeks I think something is missing in the upper manual second Drawbar. The sound seems werker.?

I just listened to some YouTube videos. First drawbar should be 16'. Second should be 5 1/3'.

Does that mean when I press a C I should hear the G above that C?

I think I hear that G one octave higher which means a lesser fat tone when I open the first 4 drawbars.

?

Is a wire loose at the back? How ever do I get that wire back in the right place??

?

Every drawbar works, top and second manual. It's only the second from the top manual that sounds week.

?

Any suggestions??

(yes I oiled the organ some weeks ago).

?

Thanks for thinking.?

Ali

Re: Hammond PR 40 Reverb Issues

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

I realize that you complained only of the sound when using the Reverb, but caps last only 20-30 years normally, and this should make your unit sound good for many years to come, unless something else unusual is wrong. IOW, good preventive maintenance. Pay close attention to variations in the filter cap design. If you get lost in that respect, be sure to call Rick Prevallet.

Gentlemen,

I am hoping someone can shed some light on my issues, the primary one being distortion and some "frying egg" noise. The distortion is more pronounced on lower notes especially with multiple notes played together. This occurs only when reverb is on. All tubes are fine as tested in another PR 40 and I replaced the RCA cable from necklace to amp. Two other minor issues, the reverb is switchable using the chorale/tremolo switch. The console is outfitted with the Trek II SS1 preamp if I remember the model correctly, the Trek folks asked me some questions then said it was a very early model, and lastly, the bass isn't as strong as on my other PR 40. Tomorrow, with assistance I will try to confirm both 15"s are working. In summary the unit plays clean with reverb off but gets ugly when the reverb is on.

Thank You one and all,
?John

Sounds as though the plastic cup may have got knocked off the top of the TG at sometime. In the absence of the cup adding oil through the hole, slowly,? should be fine.

Would anyone happen to have an X-66 service manual that shows the component layout for the "expression pedal pre-amp" board?? It's assembly number AO-32299?
Thanks. Bob
