Re: [hammond_zone] drawbar settings
Brian Williams
In a recent post that which is below is stated.
"there are many organists whose churches have Hammond organs, and while the Hammond 'sound' is great, it's not exactly what a church organ should sound like,..." > WAIT A SECOND. Who said that is not what a church should sound like??? THe Hammond organ is the only church organ to have. I take it you have never been to a pentecostal church. I think you would know would I mean if you saw it. The Leslie on 10, amd the B3 Blastin' like you would not believe. some of my favorite settings with the right hand are 800000008 I usually start with this and then add this: 808000008 Just kinda brightens it up but it is still under the banner of mellow. This is good with the leslie on fast. THis sound has a good sound that is slighty nasal. very cool 688645457 TO get real bright I go with the 808808008, 848808008, and of course the 888888888 although this tends to rock the house so hard that the chandeliers come down. you can "nasal-up" your sound by pulling out the second drawbar further than the first. the greate the ditance between them the more nasal the sound. all of these I have the vibrato on C-3. THe only time I turn the vibrato off is for padding. I do it sometimes to mix things up. need a change every once and a while. AS FOR THE LEFT HAND I used to always go with 888800000 for a deep bass sound. I have now discovered a more raunchy bass sound that has two uses. First, of course when played at the lower octaves has an extremely "rockin" bass Secondly, When played at the very high octaves it will make your B3 SCREAM like you would NOT BELIEVE. ALSO IT HAS AN AWESOME GLISSANDO SOUND. Try runnin' your hand up and down the manual and tell me what you think!!! It can't be used for really anything else because it sounds like a dying duck if you try to lead with it. Here it is baby: 088800000 Tell me what you think. THis has been a trick that us pentecostals have used for a long time. Maybe it is only suitable for loud chuch but it works. I have other settings too but I think this is good enough tell me what you think, Brian _________________________________________________________________ Send and receive Hotmail on your mobile device: |

Congratulations on your Hammond acquisition. Where are you located and what type of power do ya have? 240v 50htz, 120v 60 htz? The tone generator is run by a synchronous motor, it runs in snyc with the cycles of the AC. Cheers, Ron Bell. ----- Original Message -----

pianist, I found it hard to resist a very nice condition M3 with Leslie 45 for $200. Now I'm dividing my time between trying to learn Piano and Organ... I am glad that I found a group to go to for support, advice and etc... I'm pretty pleased with the purchase as both are in great shape and sound very nice save for the following: All of the 'F's are off (actually regiser as b-flat on tuner) any suggestions? Thanks all |

my favorite model
Carlo Pietroniro
I think my (2nd) favorite model is the "concert" model (RT-3), because of the AGO pedalboard, and the solo pedal unit. I played a concert on one of these, and it was a great success. We had to rent a Leslie though, because the 2 Hammond tone cabinets that the church had, didn't really sound that good. The sound of the organ was 'dead', but when we hooked up the Leslie, and put the tremolo on slow (chorale), it really sounded great, as the sounds was now 'alive'. If a church has a Leslie speaker on their Hammond, it can sound pretty good.........

there are many organists whose churches have Hammond organs, and while the Hammond 'sound' is great, it's not exactly what a church organ should sound like, especially if you're trying to play toccatas, fugues, and whatever, which isn't too easy on most Hammond organs, since 99% of them only have 25 pedals. As for the spinet models...........forget it!!!!
I'll post some drawbar settings for church organists soon........ carlo |
