Re: [hammond_zone] New poll for hammond_zone

Matt Boden

Thanks for the info Peter and Gren,

I think the leslie must be a 247, because as peter said, the horn is at the bottom of the enclousure. The amp blew up not long ago, and on removing it, I discovered it was not the original amp, and there had been some modifications. I'm thinking about just removing the amp circuits, leaving the rotor controls and installing four jacks to connect to an external power amp. Although it wouldn't sound the same (I suppose I'd have to get hold of a graphic and tune it a fair bit), it would make things easier in the long run. I'm also considering carving up the leslie into smaller, more portable chunks, and cutting the spinnet in half for the same reason, as it is ridiculously heavy.
Let me know what you think.

Cheers,
Matt

A 247 is the same as a 147, it's in a "decorator" lower profile
cabinet meant (!) to look like a 'contemporary' (for 1960) piece of
furniture. A 222 is a 122 in that cabinet. A 225 is a 125 (no upper
horn) in that same style cabinet. In the 247/222, the horn is placed
near the bottom of the enclosure, which makes it sound a little odd to
people used to a standard leslie.
