Hi Gesine,
Sorry, for the confusion. There are a few conversations going on in this thread. My midi comment was directed to someone else's post and very vague about the XK3 module and my step up. Luckily, I fixed most of those issues this evening.
I am definitely interested in your XB-2 to do the retrofit!
I just got an XB-2 on Reverb.com that doesn't have the chip error (yet) but I'm fixing a few other issues with it. I'm trying to do the 'repair the original stuff' with that one. Like you, money is always limited for me. I was first planning to build my own main board to fix the unit with the chip error since I like to do electronics and that would be cheaper but that won't be the same so I might as well go all in and retrofit it. That's what credit cards are for, right? :)
I'm hoping to get one more XB-2 that is having issues (or not) for its parts to repair my good one, and to use the body and keyboard assembly to build a frankensynth... I want to put a Behringer Model D in that one.
I love tinkering and doing electronic stuff, especially mixing that with programming. That is the beauty of the .
Private message me and let me know the details for what you would need to take that XB-2 off your hands.
Nick
