Re: Adult Rock

I'll answer your question with another oxymoron - yes and no LOL!

This is just to say I actually see what you mean. But that IS
precisely one of progs achievements! Rock does not have to be
necessarily associated with kids banging guitars and making one hell
of a racket just to annoy dad and mum. Rock can be and reckoned as a
serious Artform and therefore be "suitably" appreciated by a mature
audience AS WELL. Actually IMHO thats precisely what I think rock has
been missing for the past 20 years or so. Maturity. Maturity that has
been far too soon taken over by some selfdenial approach to the
genre. We've been idling since then...

In the early 90's I thought wow grunge might stir things a bit. It
didn't. It even had a shorter life than punk, again IMHO because they
(both) lacked maturity and got fabulously rich overnight. Worse than
alcohol and amphetamines...

Rock needs a comeback and hopefully in a form that would lead to
further evolution. The founders are already in their early 60's and
one by one we sadly see them depart and yet I dont see nothing new on
the horizon... and that scares me the living daylights as being a
mere witness of a dying species.

Ladies and Gents. Prog rock and jazz fusion were the last truly great
revolutions in modern music. I'd hate to thing this is it. The end of
the road. Finito.

right chaps ... back to that Schoenberg thingy but on 4/4... one two
three and...

PS oxymoron - a moron on oxygen to see if his brain pops to life once
for all? We have a few around here in such desperate need. Sorry
silly joke...
