Hi Dave,
It is a matter of personal preferance, but i remember reading somewhere
that it should take a certain amount of weight at the place where you push
the pedal to depress it, I am not sure but I think it was around 3 pounds.
Someone said they use there weller soldering gun as a weight and that it
worked very well.

Exactly how tight in the action dept. are the pedals "supposed" to be.
My middle C was flapping in the breeze to I tightened it up and was very
surprised how stiff the action became. I almost had to put serious weight
into it. I assume that you generally don't want them that tight.
