Raul,
More C 40 pic's are on the way! I've got amp details this time. I spent the
afternoon cleaning up the amps (they were really just dusty). I have one amp
back in the cabinet. Haven't fired it up yet. There are 3 wax caps in each
that look fine, but pretty scary (hand-rolled cardboard tube with stuff
printed on it and dipped in clear candle wax!) I should really check the Can
Caps, they're the dangerous ones!
I've got some interesting (to me, anyway!) trivia details, too. The amps
were contracted out to Webster Electric in Racine, Wis. There's a tag
inside. Also, I've never seen hand-made resistors before. These are so old
they don't have code stripes on them, just color splotches!
The amp type is listed as: 6122A1
The slightly newer one Bill threw in for parts is made by the same place and
looks identical, except for the different Cap Can, and the resistors, which
look the same except they have stripes. But, the type is listed as:
AO-2632-1
These things are just pristine! The china marker inspection marks inside are
still clearly legible. Each solder joint had a dab of yellow paint on it as
a QC check. All the tube sockets have the tube type embossed in white on the
bakelite. Not one scratch in the black wrinkle paint anywhere.
I'll send the pic's (along with BCV CG!!) as soon as I download them
tomorrow night.
Fun stuff!
BCV-Ken

Thanks, Ron. Loss of the tooling is an inconvience more than
anything. I know some of the zoners have been around a long time
and have known some of the Hammond workers and engineers. A check
of those remaining sources may turn up something also.
Nonetheless, Ron, if I see the patents are clear, I just may take
action to secure them then figure out how to put it together.
It'll take many prople and lot's of work and it won't pay
anything. But that's OK. It's about keeping parts alive for our
rigs. I'll start searching. Thanks.
Raul

Hi Randy,
Have a look through the Hamtech Archives, I remember reading about the
patents awhile ago, I also remember somthing about most of the tooling
equipment beeing destroyed.
I'll poke around the WWW and see what I can find.
Cheers,
Ron Bell.

then find us a
Chicago man to hunt down the jigs and tools. I'll set up shop and build
those suckers. I'm already in negotiations with a transformer
engineer to
wind high-quality iron for my amps, so why not a tonewheel manufactory?
