On this recapping thing, I recapped my 145 leslie amps and it made a world of difference to them, maybe I should look at the preamp in my BC too eh? I've never thought of doing that. Dan S. -----Original Message-----

When I removed the wax caps from my C-3, they had changed value anywhere from 20 - 80%. Fact, because I measured there values out of circuit. This does not mean anything is wrong with the generator itself. Inductors do not change value (usually) over the years. In my vintage amp work, I change many wax coupling caps. Now, mylar, metalized propylene, silvered mica, etc. are completely different in construction and are much more stable. These caps can and do remain stable for decades. Do you have really make mesurement on the old caps? If you do that, you will see that the value is the same, even after 30years... It is more important to talk about the speed of the generator 1200vs1800rpm or tighten coils and so on. After all, the bandwith of an hammond organ is no more than 5khz. You don t need Nasa Certified Components...someone have a good idea to make profits with your money.
