Re: [hammond_zone] Replacement tube for Model M

Chris...

The first tube on the left is a 5U4 rectifier tube. If this one
went T_U, then I suspect you've got more serious problems elsewhere.
Where? Start with the Electrolytic caps. The large can cap and any other
bigger than a pencil cap that has a + mark on it somewhere.

If you're not experienced in electronic repair work (and especially
involving tube stuff), I'd take it somewhere. This stuff can killya,
even after being powered down for a few days. There were a few different
versions of the M-3 amp, older ones with an EM (4 wire) speaker, and the
later with the PM speaker. Lars has some later schematics here:

Hope this helps.

Fired up the M last night and saw a flash in the back when I flipped
the start switch. Blew a tube and now I need to find out what tube
it is and where to get a replacement. If you're looking from the
back, it is the first tube from the left (on the amplifier?) The
only markings on the tube is RCA Electron Tube Made in USA 9-09. I
thought I could find just about anything on the web, but I'm getting
nowhere. Any help would be appreciated. By the way, I also have an
M3 early 60's that has two Leslie half moon switches. How do I tell
which Leslie model it's wired for?

Thanks again,
