Absolutely, no on the full B-3. However, pick through the pros and cons, here. First the pros: Start with the Tone Generator. The BV/B-2 series has the complex tone generator with the extra frequencies as opposed to the B-3. Many prefer that sound. The manuals are top notch. No funky foam, so were OK there. The pre-amp. Even though the preamp requires an outside B+ feed, the electronics are superb. Ask Ken-BCV what I thought of this thing at first...weird! But, after I made a schematic of it and understood the circuitry, I recanted publicly and understood that this thing's cool! Again, I've found a number of folks who prefer this sound over the B-3 preamp. I, myself, prefer the growl of my CV over that of my C-3. The drawback of the pre-amp is the lack of single-ended amp stages makes it hard to fit third-party accessories like Trek IIs reverb. I have a workaround for that, however. Now the cons: The drawbars stink. I'm converting mine to the *-3 style right now. Vibrato affects both manuals at the same time. No soft/normal switch. No percussion. This last is a pro or a con depending on how you feel. Myself, I like the Trek II percussion unit better than the factory B-3 unit. So, your right, they are not B-3s. but they are a great organ. in fact, if someone wanted to kit out their console with accessories of their choosing, I think the BV/CV and B-2/C-2 might be better choices to start with. In addition, they are much less expensive than their *-3 counterparts. You can spend your dough on the mods you want and have a great organ! Regarding prices, I think the group will concur that a real good C-3 with a tone cab will bring about $2,500 max and about $5,000 max with a good Leslie. I'd say that the CV with the 760 would represent the higher end of that combo, if the both pieces were really good. What does the group think? Raul ----- Original Message -----
