Jackie Mittoo's gone...bummer....gone but
not forgotten.
??? I've got a couple nice mix tapes that I'll
give a listen to when I'm doing a reggae
session with a traditional roots type band.
His studio tracks often had a lot of delay
( echo ) on them which kinda' took it toward
a " roller rink " sounding? thing, but his
playing was consistently great and very
melodic. A master of the Jamaican " bubble "...
that unique and wonderfully rythymic element
of early reggae music.? I even? find myself
dipping into that well in comping a hoppin' funk
groove from time to time. Nice off-beat shuffle
feel that really thickens the rythym section. You
can often see it have a dynamic effect on how a
soloist plays if you start bubblin' behind him.
? Anyway, Jackie was a real pioneer, as you
earlier said.
???? " Level deh vibes, mon....nuf respeck! "
??????????????????????????????????
