¿ªÔÆÌåÓýNo, Hammonds will never die. And I don't think
clones are to kill the real stuff, on the contrary they are to promote it. As
far as I'm concerned there's no way I can move my B-3 out of my appartment. It
took a truck to bring it next to the place where I live and 6 people to get it
upstairs. I will surely not do that every day!! Now it stands in my living room
and will stay there for good. So what am I supposed to do? give up the legendary
hammond sound on stage? No way. The XB-1 suits my purpose : I can carry it
anywhere anytime. I?believe it allows me to "preach" a sample of the
Hammond sound, and that's what I mean by "promoting" it.
If I hadn't a clone, there would be no Hammond at
all on my stage. I would definitely miss it.
On the other hand, clone designers are constantly
getting closer to the real stuff, and I would blame professional keyboardists
for using the XB series instead of B or C. If they have the possibility to carry
the beast, it's a shame they don't do it. It's always a great feeling to go to a
concert and see the old Hammond screaming back on the stage. Lately I?saw a
concert in Paris, it was a famous french artist who's used to playing the B-3 in
studio. On the big stage, 15 musiciens, one of them was playing
a?vulgar?XB-2. When I see that, I wish clones had never existed.
Anyway It's a hard question to settle, what do you
guys think?
Cheers,
?
Marc.
