¿ªÔÆÌåÓýI was wondering why you were considering a copy
when Hammond have such a full product range? the XB1 or XK2, or even the XM1?
The XB2 was great but its showing its age a little now...especially the
'effects' like Leslie and Vibrato. But if you are on a budget it still an
excellent stage instrument. (although I have seen the XB1 selling for not much
more than a decent used V2 XB2)
?
The VK7 is great? if you only use 16,51/3 and
8' drawbars, but is definitely 'nasally on the higher frequencies. The Oberheim
is excellent for full on overdriven rock sound, but lacks the purity of a real
Hammond for those softer solos (whiter shade of pale springs to mind).
?
Obviously I am a little (ok..a lot..lol) biased
towards Hammond, I have always owned a Hammond..and it just wouldn't be the same
to have an instrument badged with another brand name. (Imagine owning a Ferrari
with a Ford badge on the rear..haha!) But I am freelance and get to work with
all?kinds of stuff, and try to look at them from a 'sound' and performance
point of view, but I have not found anything that touches the Hammond XK2 for
authentic sound and 'feel'?Its a pity there isn't a two manual version a
bit cheaper than the XB3:(
?
Best of luck with your quest..seriously
though..take a good look at Hammond's current single manual
instruments:
