Re: [hammond_zone] l100
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýHi Gandert,
?
You say you have the Solton T150... I have one like that
too.?A year ago I changed the amp for a tube amp, but the original amp
sounded ok (for a solid state)?but it had a lot more treble response than
the original Leslies, in my opinion. On your solton there
must be a knob "tone control" or "tone", anyway, most of the time?tuning
that one up should do it... ;-)
?
As for the motor sounds of your Solton, the only annoying
noise I can hear is a relay click, when you change slow/fast.... Nothing to do
about that... If you consider the Leslie part of the instrument, you don't care
about it any longer! It still is a mechanical instrument... When you record an
oboe, you hear the keyclicks, too, If you see what I mean?
?
When you?hear other mechanical noise, try to clean up the
complete Leslie inside and outside (vacuum cleaner, and those little sticks you
use for your ears, for the smaller parts,...) And than lubricate all rotating
parts. On top of the lower rotor, you can see the contact for the lower rotating
speaker ( a small?metal plate which is about 10 cm long). Lift it up and
spray it with contact spray. I use lubrication oil for it...?Works
better?on?my?Solton!?See what works best on?yours... I
have to do it every month, otherwise it starts cracking...
?
My?Spinet (M-series), which I don't run through a Leslie
(yet ??), sounds?rather mellow, too, but I'm not quite shure if all the
speakers work... It still needs some repairs... Maybe you should try running the
organ through a normal keyboard amp, and see if you still got the problem... I
was quite stunned when you mentioned the absence of a 16' drawbar... The lower
manual starts from 8', but your upper manual must have a 16' drawbar...
?
The hum of your organ probably is some ground noise... The
best thing you can do is to take a piece of electric wire and attach one part to
the grounds of your organ. Then, use the other part to?make contact
with?other?parts of your organ (try every?big metal
part)?That should do the trick...
?
Anyway, if you have other questions on the Solton or anything
else in particular... Be my guest!
?
Regards!
