When a thirteenth pair registered about five seconds before we started, I did not have time to change from nine rounds to six. In spite of that, Jevin produced a clean sheet, winning every round for a convincing victory. Karleta had a huge finish to move into second overall, scoring 450/500 on the last five boards. Ritold were the only pair besides Jevin to win six rounds.

Bill might have scored 80%, as there were multiple hands on which his favourite lead of a three-card major against no-trumps was best. Jeff found one of those on Board 5, leading the heart king against 3NT from Q983 KQ8 85 A943 and hitting Kevin with the golden hand of J10432 in hearts and the spade ace for a sure entry. On Board 6, Breta led her singleton five of diamonds against 5C and it won the trick, Karlene holding AKQ10974 and seeing J862 in dummy. Slams were attempted on Boards 9 and 10. Board 9's slam was set when the hearts broke poorly; 6NT on Board 10 was saved when declarer was able to force three spade tricks holding A1097 opposite Q8.
